Content:
On the occasion of the 275th anniversary of the founding of the First Saudi State, we recall the biography of its founding leader, King Mohammed bin Saud bin Mohammed Al-Muqrin (1090-1179 AH), who, with his political acumen and military courage, laid the foundation stone for what would later become the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
King Mohammed bin Saud was born in the city of Diriyah in 1090 AH, and grew up in the ruling Al-Muqrin family, and assumed the emirate of Diriyah in 1139 AH. In 1157 AH, he signed a historic agreement with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Wahhab, which led to the establishment of a strong alliance between political power and religious power, paving the way for the declaration of the establishment of the First Saudi State in 1157 AH.
During his 40-year reign, King Mohammed bin Saud succeeded in unifying most of the regions of Najd under the banner of the young Saudi state. During his reign, the state’s influence extended to include the Qassim region, Al-Ahsa, and southern Iraq, reaching the current borders of the State of Kuwait.
Historians have praised the wisdom of King Mohammed bin Saud and his ability to build a strong and organized army, and establish balanced diplomatic relations with neighboring countries. His reign was also distinguished by the application of Islamic law in all aspects of life, and encouraging science and education.
King Mohammed bin Saud died in 1179 AH, leaving behind a great legacy and a strong state. His son and successor, Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Saud, said of him: “My father, may God have mercy on him, was a righteous man, just in his rule, loved by his subjects, and striving for their interests.”
Today, centuries later, the principles and values of King Mohammed bin Saud still form the basic reference for governance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His wise leadership and insightful vision paved the way for the unification of the country and the building of a strong modern state, which today stands as a testament to the greatness of this founding leader.

  • Benzema Shines in Saudi League, Leads Al-Ittihad to Victory

French star Karim Benzema, Al-Ittihad’s striker, shone in the match that his team won against Al-Damk 3-1 in the ninth round of the Saudi Roshan League.

Benzema scored two wonderful goals in the match, raising his tally to 6 goals in only 7 matches he played with Al-Ittihad since his move to it in the summer of 2023, coming from Real Madrid.

After the match, Benzema said in press statements: “I am very happy with the team’s victory and scoring goals, but the most important thing is to achieve victories and collect points. We are heading in the right direction and our goal is to compete for the league title this season.”

Al-Ittihad occupies second place in the Saudi League standings with 20 points, only two points behind Al-Hilal in the lead.

Thus, Benzema continues his remarkable brilliance in the Saudi stadiums, as he previously won the award for the best player in the league for the month of September, and was also chosen in the ideal squad for the round.

These distinguished levels of Benzema come amid the fierce competition witnessed by Saudi football, which attracted many global stars such as Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazilian Neymar.

Observers believe that Benzema has become one of the most prominent stars of the Saudi League, and that his level will undoubtedly contribute to raising the shares of the competition locally and globally, and increase its attractiveness in light of the great ambitions that Saudi Arabia seeks to achieve in the field of sports.

Undoubtedly, the eyes will be directed towards Benzema and his teammates at Al-Ittihad in the next stage, especially with the approach of the Asian Champions League matches, where the team will try to go far in the continental tournament and achieve a historic achievement for Saudi football.

  • For Your Sake, Planet… Benzema Leaves Al-Ittihad and the Saudi League

Reliable media sources have revealed that Al-Ittihad Club intends to terminate the services of its French star Karim Benzema, just one season after his high-profile signing with the team.

According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, Al-Ittihad’s management has decided to mutually terminate Benzema’s contract, with the 36-year-old player leaving the Saudi league at the end of the current season, a year before his contract was set to expire in the summer of 2025.

Reports indicate that Benzema will receive a compensation of £7.5 million (approximately 35 million Saudi riyals) for the contract termination, a significant amount for a player who did not meet expectations during his time with the team.

Benzema had joined Al-Ittihad on a free transfer after his contract with Real Madrid ended, signing a three-year deal worth £171 million annually (around 800 million Saudi riyals), making him one of the highest-paid players in the world.

During his time with Al-Ittihad, Benzema participated in 26 matches across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 6 assists. Despite these relatively good numbers, his performance did not meet expectations, especially in crucial matches, leading to widespread criticism from fans and media.

Sources confirmed that Benzema, who has a strong relationship with his compatriot N’Golo Kanté, his former Real Madrid teammate who also plays for Al-Ittihad, will not move to another Saudi league club but will return to Europe to continue his career with an undisclosed club.

Benzema had previously stated that he was happy in Saudi Arabia and wanted to stay with Al-Ittihad, but it seems that disagreements with management and the team’s negative results have led both parties to consider a mutual separation.

In related news, “The Athletic” newspaper confirmed that Benzema will receive £7.5 million as compensation for the contract termination, which is roughly half his annual salary.

With this decision, Al-Ittihad has rid itself of the burden of Benzema’s hefty salary, but at the same time, it will lose one of the world’s best strikers, which may affect the team’s ambitions in the coming seasons.

It’s worth noting that Benzema had led Real Madrid to win the UEFA Champions League in 2022 and 2023, and won the Ballon d’Or for the world’s best player in 2022, before deciding to move to the Saudi league in search of a new challenge and huge

  • “Pioli: Ibrahimovic’s Departure Was Difficult and the Champions League Will Be Different”

In fiery statements during the press conference before Milan’s match against Newcastle in the first round of the Champions League, Milan coach Stefano Pioli confirmed that the departure of veteran Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic from the team was a difficult matter, noting that the competition in the European tournament this season will be completely different.

Pioli said in his statements: “Ibrahimovic’s departure was very difficult for the team, as he is an exceptional player and a leadership figure, but we must move forward and achieve our goals,” adding, “The Champions League will be different this season, we are preparing for strong confrontations and we will do our best to excel.”

Ibrahimovic had announced his retirement from football at the end of last season after a career full of achievements with Milan, where he contributed to leading the team to win the Italian League in the 2021-2022 season, before returning again in the 2023-2024 season, but his participation was limited due to repeated injuries.

Milan is preparing to face Newcastle United at the San Siro Stadium in the first round of the group stage of the Champions League, amid great ambitions to achieve a positive result that helps the team start strongly in the continental tournament.

It is worth noting that Milan is participating in the Champions League after a long absence, as its last participation was in the 2013-2014 season, and the team is seeking to compete strongly for the title this season under the leadership of its coach Pioli and young stars such as Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud.
