In a move that confirms Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing the sports sector and nurturing young talents, a royal decree was issued appointing Prince Fahad bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Saud as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Sports Authority with the rank of minister, on February 27, 2023.
Prince Fahad, who holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from King Saud University, has extensive experience in both sports and administrative fields. He previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Nassr Saudi Football Club for two years, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the General Sports Authority for three years.
In a statement following the royal decree, Prince Fahad expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to his Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for this generous trust. He affirmed that he would work with all effort and sincerity to serve the nation and its citizens, and to achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership in developing the sports sector.
The appointment of Prince Fahad comes within the framework of the Saudi leadership’s keenness to support and develop the sports sector, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The royal decree tasked Prince Fahad with working to achieve several goals, including: increasing the percentage of sports practice in society, raising the level of sports clubs, and enhancing sports competitiveness at the international level.
Prince Fahad has a distinguished record of sports and administrative achievements. He contributed to achieving many championships and accomplishments for Al-Nassr Club, and worked on developing the club’s infrastructure and improving the efficiency of its sports system. He also enjoys distinguished relations with international sports federations, which will contribute to enhancing the Kingdom’s presence on the global sports stage.

  • الشيخ صالح: رحيل عالم جليل ترك أثراً باقياً في المملكة

    في يوم الأربعاء الموافق 17 يناير 2024، فقدت المملكة العربية السعودية أحد أبرز علمائها الدينيين، الشيخ صالح بن عبد العزيز بن محمد آل الشيخ، عن عمر يناهز 90 عاماً. وُلد الشيخ صالح في الرياض عام 1933، ونشأ في بيت علم، حيث كان والده من كبار العلماء والمشايخ في المملكة.
    تلقى الشيخ صالح تعليمه الأولي في مدارس الرياض، ثم التحق بكلية الشريعة في مكة المكرمة، حيث حصل على درجة البكالوريوس في الشريعة الإسلامية. واصل دراسته العليا في الجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة المنورة، حيث حصل على درجة الماجستير في الفقه، ثم الدكتوراه في الدراسات الإسلامية من جامعة الأزهر بالقاهرة.
    تقلد الشيخ صالح العديد من المناصب العلمية والدينية خلال مسيرته الحافلة. فقد عمل مدرساً في كلية الشريعة بجامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية، ثم عُيّن عميداً للكلية. كما شغل منصب عضو هيئة كبار العلماء بالسعودية، وعضو اللجنة الدائمة للإفتاء، ورئيس المجلس العلمي لـ “رابطة العالم الإسلامي”.
    عُرف الشيخ صالح بعلمه الغزير وفتاواه المعتدلة، وكان له دور بارز في الدعوة إلى الوسطية والاعتدال في الفكر الإسلامي. وقد أصدر العديد من الكتب والمؤلفات في الفقه والعقيدة والسيرة النبوية، كان من أبرزها “القواعد الفقهية الكبرى” و”الأصول الاعتقادية لأهل السنة والجماعة”.
    وفي تصريح له عام 2018، قال الشيخ صالح: “إن الإسلام دين وسطي معتدل، يدعو إلى التسامح والتعايش السلمي بين الناس، ويحارب التطرف والغلو بكل صورهما”.
    وصلت مؤلفات الشيخ صالح إلى أكثر من 50 كتاباً، إضافة إلى مئات المحاضرات والدروس العلمية التي ألقاها في مختلف أنحاء العالم الإسلامي. وقد حصل على العديد من الجوائز والتكريمات خلال مسيرته العلمية، منها جائزة الملك فيصل العالمية في الدراسات الإسلامية عام 2010.
    يُعد الشيخ صالح من أبرز العلماء الذين ساهموا في نشر العلم الشرعي والفكر الوسطي في المملكة والعالم الإسلامي. وقد ترك وراءه إرثاً علمياً ضخماً، وطلاباً نهلوا من علمه وفقهه في مختلف أنحاء العالم.
    وبوفاة الشيخ صالح، تكون المملكة قد فقدت أحد أعلامها الفكرية والدينية، الذي عمل طوال حياته على خدمة الإسلام والمسلمين، ونشر الوسطية والاعتدال في الفكر الإسلامي. رحم الله الشيخ صالح وأسكنه فسيح جناته، وألهم أهله وطلابه ومحبيه الصبر والسلوان.

  • Al-Hilal’s Valuable Victory Puts Them at the Top of the Saudi League

    Al-Hilal Saudi Club secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Al-Ittihad in the 17th round of the Roshn Saudi League, maintaining their lead with 42 points.

    The first half ended goalless, but Al-Hilal scored twice in the second half through Salem Al-Dawsari and Abdullah Al-Attif in the 74th and 90th minutes, respectively.

  • Death of Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh

    Riyadh – Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia, passed away on Monday evening at the age of 75.

    His body was buried after the Asr prayer on Tuesday at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, with Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, leading the funeral prayer.

    The deceased was born in Riyadh in 1946, memorized the Quran in his youth, then joined the Riyadh Scientific Institute. After graduation, he worked as a teacher in the same institute.

    In 1992, a royal order appointed Sheikh Saleh as a member of the Council of Senior Scholars, a position he held until his death, making distinguished scholarly and missionary contributions.

    The Royal Court mourned the deceased, expressing deep sorrow and asking Allah to have mercy on him and grant him Paradise.

    Many officials, scholars, and preachers offered their condolences to the deceased’s family and the Saudi people, praising his blessed scholarly and missionary journey.

    May Allah have mercy on Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, grant him Paradise, and give his family, relatives, and loved ones patience and solace.

  • عودة عايدة السويلم لقيادة سيارتها بعد 47 عاماً من المنع

    استعادت المواطنة السعودية عايدة السويلم، البالغة من العمر 68 عاماً، ذكريات قيادتها للسيارة قبل نحو نصف قرن، وذلك بعد صدور قرار السماح للمرأة السعودية بقيادة السيارة.
    ونشرت عايدة مقطع فيديو عبر حسابها الرسمي على موقع “تويتر”، ظهرت فيه وهي تقود سيارتها في شوارع العاصمة الرياض، معلنة عودتها للقيادة بعد منع دام 47 عاماً.
    وأعربت عايدة عن سعادتها البالغة بهذه الخطوة التاريخية، مؤكدة أنها تثمن عالياً الدعم الكبير الذي تلقاه المرأة السعودية من قيادة المملكة في مختلف المجالات.
    وحظي مقطع الفيديو بتفاعل واسع على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، حيث أشاد المغردون بقرار السماح للمرأة بالقيادة، معتبرين إياه خطوة مهمة نحو مزيد من التقدم والتنمية في المملكة.
    يذكر أن قرار السماح للمرأة السعودية بقيادة السيارة دخل حيز التنفيذ في يونيو 2018، بعد سنوات طويلة من المطالبات بإلغاء هذا المنع.
