This achievement comes as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to empower women in the field of technology and innovation.
Maryam, 27, holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from King Saud University. Her journey in the world of technology began at a young age, as she was passionate about designing websites and developing applications.
In 2022, Maryam participated in the “Special Needs Hackathon” organized by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). During the event, she presented the idea for the “Noor” application, which helps blind individuals navigate independently within public buildings.
“My goal with this application was to empower people with special needs and make their lives easier,” says Maryam. “I was inspired by a personal experience with a relative who suffers from visual impairment.”
The “Noor” application won first place in the competition and received widespread praise from attendees. It also attracted the attention of several major technology companies in the Kingdom.
According to official statistics, there are more than 3 million people with special needs in Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 aims to improve their quality of life and integrate them into society.
Commenting on Maryam’s achievement, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabai’, advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said: “We are proud of our young talents who contribute to building a promising digital future for the Kingdom. Maryam is a role model for ambitious Saudi women.”
Currently, Maryam is working on developing an advanced version of the “Noor” application in collaboration with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. She also plans to launch a startup specializing in developing technological solutions for people with special needs.
“I aspire to be a role model for young Saudi women and encourage them to enter the field of technology,” Maryam concludes. “With knowledge and determination, nothing is impossible.”
Maryam’s success comes at a time when the Kingdom is seeking to enhance the role of women in various sectors, especially in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. Her achievement is expected to inspire a new generation of Saudi innovators.

  • Karim Benzema Reveals His Future with Al-Ittihad Saudi Club

In controversial statements that sparked widespread debate in sports circles, French star Karim Benzema opened the door to the possibility of leaving Al-Ittihad Club in Saudi Arabia at the end of the current season.

In an interview with the French newspaper “L’Equipe,” the 36-year-old Benzema confirmed that he had not made a final decision regarding his continuation with the Saudi team, indicating that he would determine his future after the end of the current season.

The French player added: “I faced some difficulties at the beginning of my journey here, but I worked hard and gradually improved. Now I feel that I am delivering good levels and contributing to the team’s success.”

Since his move to Al-Ittihad Club in the summer of 2023 from Real Madrid, Benzema has scored 15 goals in 29 matches in various competitions so far, despite missing some matches due to injuries.

Benzema had previously stated in an interview with the French magazine “France Football” that his future on the field might be linked to his ability to compete at the highest levels, hinting at the possibility of retirement if he felt he was no longer able to deliver the best.

This statement comes at a time when Al-Ittihad Club is going through a transitional phase after the departure of its Portuguese coach Nuno Santo, which puts Benzema’s future with the team under the spotlight.

Media reports had linked Benzema with a return to Europe, especially with the interest of some major clubs in his services, but the player did not confirm or deny these reports in his latest statements.

With several months remaining until the end of the season, football fans in Saudi Arabia and around the world are awaiting Benzema’s final decision, which may have a significant impact on the future of Al-Ittihad Club and the Roshn Saudi League.
