The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its 93rd National Day today, which falls on February 22nd each year, commemorating the unification of the Kingdom by King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud in 1932.

In a televised speech on the occasion of National Day, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud affirmed that “the Kingdom is moving confidently towards achieving Vision 2030 and reaching its ambitious goals,” praising the comprehensive developmental achievements made in recent years.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman tweeted: “We celebrate today the anniversary of the unification of this blessed land by the founding King Abdulaziz, and we recall his great sacrifices for the sake of the nation’s elevation.”

The Kingdom has witnessed a major developmental boom in recent years, with government investments reaching about 3.2 trillion riyals ($853 billion), according to Saudi Ministry of Finance data. The GDP rose from 2.3 trillion riyals in 2016 to 3.1 trillion riyals in 2022, according to General Authority for Statistics data.

The development plan included giant projects such as the NEOM project at a cost of $500 billion, the Red Sea tourism project, in addition to the expansion of the Two Holy Mosques and the establishment of King Abdullah Economic City.

This National Day comes amid the continued implementation of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify income sources and reduce dependence on oil, where the non-oil sector’s contribution to GDP rose from 37% in 2016 to 47% in 2022.

The Kingdom has also witnessed wide social and economic reforms in recent years, including allowing women to drive, launching tourist visas, organizing musical concerts and entertainment festivals, in addition to launching the economic reform program “Saudi Vision 2030.”

The Kingdom celebrates this precious occasion with various national events in all regions, including air, land and sea shows, musical concerts, fireworks displays, in addition to lighting up landmarks of the Kingdom in green, the color of the Saudi flag.

In conclusion, the 93rd Saudi National Day embodies years of comprehensive development and achievements made during the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, within the framework of seeking to achieve the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030.

The third edition of the Dates Festival in Hail region was launched under the patronage of Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Hail, with the attendance of Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, and several officials.

The festival, which runs until the end of November, aims to highlight the economic and social role of palm trees in the Kingdom and enhance Hail’s position as one of the most important date-producing regions in the country.

Minister Al-Fadley noted that the Kingdom produces about 1.5 million tons of dates annually, consuming 1.2 million tons locally, while the rest is exported to various countries worldwide.

Director of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Hail, Eng. Saleh Al-Mughamis, stated that Hail region has more than 5 million palm trees producing about 75,000 tons of dates annually. He added that the festival contributes to supporting farmers and marketing their products.

The festival, held at the Exhibition and Conference Center in Hail, witnessed a large turnout of visitors who learned about different types of dates and enjoyed accompanying activities, including folklore shows and heritage segments.

Al-Mughamis emphasized that the festival contributes to enhancing agricultural tourism in the region and opens new horizons for investment in the palm and dates sector, expecting this year’s festival to achieve great success, as in the previous two editions.

It is worth mentioning that Hail region is one of the most important palm cultivation areas in the Kingdom, characterized by a suitable climate and fertile soil, making it home to many farms producing the finest types of dates such as Khalas, Sukkari, Ruziz, and other distinguished varieties.
