Dubai, United Arab Emirates – May 15, 2023 – A new phenomenon has recently spread on social media under the hashtag #HafeetChallenge, where participants shave their heads and donate the cost of the haircut to those in need.
Khaled Al Ameri, one of the campaign organizers, said: “Our goal is to encourage people to give and be generous through innovative ways that combine entertainment and charitable work.” He added: “We have noticed great turnout from various ages and nationalities.”
According to preliminary statistics, the number of posts participating in the challenge exceeded 50,000 during the first week, with donations estimated at more than 200,000 dirhams for the benefit of several approved charitable organizations.
It is worth noting that the idea began as a small local initiative in the emirate of Hafeet, before quickly spreading to include various emirates of the country and Gulf Cooperation Council states.
