Al-Hilal Clinches Dramatic Victory Over Al-Ittihad in Thrilling Capital Derby

Al-Hilal team managed to secure a thrilling victory against their neighbor Al-Ittihad with a score of two goals to one, in the match that brought them together last evening at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, as part of the eighth round of the Saudi Roshan League for Professionals.
The match began with mutual offensive pressure from both teams, where Al-Ittihad succeeded in taking the lead first through their Brazilian star Romarinho in the 23rd minute, after a precise pass from his teammate Abdulrahman Al-Aboud. But Al-Hilal did not surrender, and succeeded in equalizing the score through their French striker Michel Delgado in the 37th minute, after a defensive error from Al-Ittihad.
In the second half, both teams continued their offensive attempts, until Al-Hilal succeeded in snatching the winning goal in the 87th minute, through their star returning from injury Salem Al-Dawsari, after a decisive pass from his teammate Salman Al-Faraj.
With this victory, Al-Hilal raised its tally to 19 points at the top of the league, while Al-Ittihad’s tally froze at 14 points in fourth place. The importance of this victory for Al-Hilal comes, especially after its surprising loss to Al-Fateh in the previous round, where the team regained its balance and maintained its record free of defeats in the current season.
In his statements after the match, Al-Hilal coach Razvan Lucescu said: “We presented a strong match against a fierce competitor, and we succeeded in achieving a deserved victory. I thank the players for their great effort and determination to win until the end.”
On his part, Al-Ittihad coach Nuno Santo expressed his disappointment with the defeat, saying: “We presented a good match, but haste in some moments cost us dearly. We will learn from this match and return stronger in the upcoming matches.”
With this victory, Al-Hilal continues its pursuit to retain the league title for the third consecutive season, while Al-Ittihad seeks to return to the path of victories in the next round.
